With all the less pleasant verdicts about Vista, Windows 7 is perhaps PC user next best news. Codenamed Blackcomb, this new Microsoft operating system is surely a successor over it’s predecessor Windows XP and definitely Vista. With Microsoft to end their support for Windows XP in 2014, we figured Windows 7 will be completely taking over things in the next year or so.

If you are a Windows users it’s probably time for a change, or at least tryout this new operating system.

Death of Two

The image of you lying next to me,
Embeded in my memory,
An arctic art gallery,
Filled with the beauty of your undying soul,
Purely consisting of truth,
A truth I found so exquisite,
To the point of it resurrecting a heart that only lived for existence,
But my waning grasp on reality,

Kililimbi Aftermath

Words cannot express the mood of friday the 27th…..It was just the bomb having to dance (its been a while before i shook some limbs) the night away to kamba tunes belted by Ken wa maria,bosco mulwa,kakongo sisters,mwala boys among other famous kamba bands… The only photo i came out wit was this one……

PS: They changed the billboard outside ma house from three chics to one!!! I want it back!!

 

Africa.NET monthly Meetings are back!

If you are a developer, and especially a developer on the .NET platform you
might be interested in attending the Africa.NET monthly usergroup meeting at
the Silver Springs Hotel, this Saturday 28 Feb from about 9:00 to 1. There
will be a few presentations and demos, and lots of free swag. I have a
couple of DVDs of SQL Server 2008, Visual Studio 2008 and Windows Vista to
give away.

There will be a introductory session from 9:00 to 10:00 hosted by Michael
Owuor of Manageworks, followed by the main session and finally an open Q&A
session. So if you’re curious about .NET make sure you attend.

Scenes from North Eastern Kenya- Part 1

One of the essential things you need to have when going North Eastern side of Kenya is alot of water.You never know when you might sleep under a camel

Every Wednesday is the Cattle trading day at the Garissa Market

I understand that the white cattle origins is Somalia while the Brown-whitish one’s originates from Ethiopia as seen in the two pictures below…

According to some brokers/cattle owners one bull here is worth only KSH.7,500 but by the time it reaches Nairobi or Athi-River’s Kenya Meat Commission it’s worth around Ksh.80,000 as seen in the pic below

Highway to Garsen town and road blocks, jerrican laden lorries dot the road.

The Bura market doesn’t yield anything worth blogging but it’s a famous stop over for trucks plying the Garissa-Garsen-Malindi route

Donkeys are your friends here and you better be careful especially if you love speed. The road from Garissa to Hola is smooth and i wish all the roads were this smooth. But the shocker hit is when you arrive to Hola town..the road here has been under construction for the last 6 years as one of the locals told me.Mwisho wa lami…

This road becomes a nightmare when it rains even if it’s a 5 minutes rain coz the soil here is the black cotton type and Japanese junk like Rita won’t make it through the muck….

It doesn’t more scarier than this…..

Water source and the showering joint…kindly note this are shared resources…the shower is the one u squat,cup the water in your hands,splash it on your back and if you miss don’t worry,the walls will bounce back the water on you……

Its adjacent to the constituency office…..

The only bus from Malindi via Garsen to Garissa then Nairobi….Miss it and you have to wait till the following day…

Tribal Groupings…When will it ever end!

Now if you had a chance of watching the prime time adverts on the national TV and NTV then wouldn’t have missed a unique advert calling the kikuyu,embu and meru tribes to the foot of mt.Kenya as requested by their ancestors in the name of tracing their roots back and fulfilling the ancestors promises as they had dictated in the year 1210AD. Now tell me who will buy that kind of crap in this day and time when we are busy healing from a period of killing one another! I cant believe a reputable tv station like NTV and KBC can allow such kind of content to go on air! Someone is seriously sleeping on the job in terms of content regulation!
