This post is just for photos around the Garissa Municipality.
Lets start with the local banks…
Barclays….

Equity…

I couldn’t get a shot of the KCB one but will upload it once i get the close up.
Moving on…this one is along the Garissa-Mandera Highway

Another one along the same route. This one has a hotel facility for any kind of amount starting at ksh 500 to Ksh 2000 depending on the flexibility of your pocket. It has a hi-speed cyber on the ground floor

Farther along the highway,a private school.

An upcoming building along the route…

The Garissa-Mandera highway which has always been under construction. It got a lifeline during the campaign period.
Ohh by the way, from Garissa to Mandera is around 750 to 1000 km’s! under the scorching sun on bad roads!

another part of the road under construction..

Outside the town most of the residential houses are like this.. they build temporary shelters coz most of them are nomadic people who just check into town to trade at the local cattle market every wednesday..

other’s located at the old cattle market…. I understand if you try to cause any chaos,an AK 47 from one of this houses will shut you up! I took the two photo’s with great caution lest a borana wielding n AK chomokaaas

The local Goat market didn’t have much to offer for my lens but im so sure tomorrow i will have something coz tomorrow is the cattle, goat n sheep market day.

A visit to the local municipal council yielded a broken down fire engine.

and whoever said you can never find a merc in Garissa was dead wrong….

You got to give a congratulatory message for the residents of this place if the number of water tanks i saw is anything to go by…

The water supply source for garissa, the famous Tana River located one kilometer from the town .. this water is treated n supplied by the GAWASCO (Garissa Water and Sewarage Company).

I couldn’t resist having this photo left out considering the only government guest house i know is the prison

Finally food of the day….

Mbuzi fry, sembe, cabbz n dnegu kiasi for only ksh 60
Ohh by the way..Garissa has a total of 40 butcheries..only two sell beef. The rest sell Camel meat.
Food for thought
A resident of Garissa asked me why the country is fighting while it’s the same society that taught them how to live in peace and harmony ???
Did you know…
The residents here refer North Eastern Province as the Nothing Except Pleasure region

These people the tax they pay to the G.of kenya is not being used for the improvement of their daily life.Somebody somewhere is using, the only feed back they get from kenya media is just like that negative article in the E.A Standard and it`s the way this artificial kenya, articulate itself toward these people.by the way JKE. I hope you saw all those raodblocks on the way to Nbi. I wonder if the place is a borderpoint

It’s pleasure to see our beloved Garissa , the capital City of North-Eastern Province is improving. I t’s also clear that the residents did major effort but the Goverment’s side is still very low such as modernising infrastructures & improving public services , so I think that is work of those leaders in the Goverment who are representing the region to put presure and encourage the goverment to fullfil it’s promises & commitments towords the people of NEP who have been neglected & maginalise for long time. let the people gets the fruits of tax they are paying to the Goverment let the Goverment carry its responsibility & treats the people of North-Eastern Province same as the rests of the kenyan citizens . our people needs justice & equality.
thaks

i am so touched by the recent development of ma home town. this surely would have been realized long ago, had it not been maginalized by the gov. of kenya. it’s the right time for us to stand up and do it ourselves, if not so seek liberation. long live N.F.D. much love
December 21, 2008 at 12:57 am
they use to say “nothing except problems”. they never thougt that things may change courses and give a different result. guys from N.F.D, especially Gsa, u have shown that slowly but surely u can do it. but lets think of how long we shall drive on dusty roads, drink from dirty wells and carry passes(kipande) when we travel in our own country. wake up, sleeping Giant, and seek for the same equality as people living in the 21ST century. lets get there!!!!!!!!
January 6, 2009 at 11:26 am
Hi, I have gone through the pictures, well done you have clearly illustrated the town.
My question is, are there any job opportunities for media people especially photographers and PROs?
Kindly let me know.

May 26, 2009 at 1:51 pm
hey wathii lets just be honest.there are no bandits there.we know where mungikis are.garissa is one of the most beautiful and peaceful towns in kenya.and by the way that lorry isnt an army one but one of the many commercial lorries on the road.for your information garissa nairobi road is tarmacked.we are proud of our town and the so called upcountry kenyans are streaming in garissa to do menial jobs. keep it up NEP
May 26, 2009 at 1:56 pm
Garissa is one of the fastest growing towns in kenya.kudos to the enterprising somalis who are doing a great job.business is booming and the town is growing.despite subsequent marginalisation of nep we have our best.by the way there isnot much in those so called upcounytry towns especially the place where this guy comes.despite the negativereporting the photos are great.
June 10, 2009 at 4:54 pm
thanks again mr wathi your comment are well ballance and accurate at most, there is no denial more improvement are needed however you fail to mention the blight of those left behind of this rather capitalist bandwagon,no picture of the poor seldomly parhaps you’re allergic to their presence,i think you choose delliberately not to,and you joined the new army of moneybag hyennas,
June 29, 2009 at 2:16 pm
it is true i am un informed,i am dissapointed, and wish to take or retract my comments specially where it hurts most,is just i was dismissive and upset,as for the money bag hyennas it is wrong i hope this changes you’re outlook on garissa and garissans.thx
September 2, 2009 at 3:17 pm
its gud 2c the garissa diaspora stil so pationate abt the town.wel for those of you whu v contributed 2dis develpments, u give urself a pat at the back, for those whu never lookd bak sice you left, its still not too late. you can can still contribute positively. let me b categorical dat all developmets in grsa is purely been the efforts of the residens, notn frm government aprt frm false promises of din dis n dat. did u kn dat garrisa doesnt hav even a single factory which makes anytyn dat can provide jobs 2even 10 people at once?…the only thing we gat are NGOs dis are the sources of employment for people. we need 2b more productive. if u ask any diplom hoder in garissa where he wana work, he or she tels ya hayadhaha…..dis s got 2change. need 2b productiv n think of how we can make garissa competitive. i waz in nyeri last year n believe me even facilities like hotels cannot b compared 2 the once in G-town. its up to us to decide which we want 2take our town. gud job buddy
September 30, 2009 at 8:30 am
